Current and Upcoming Events Involving UVA Members

Anita Helen Cohen, Lynda Goldberg and Jean Aserkoff are all included in No Place Like Home at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown, MA running from November 11, 2018 – January 11, 2019.

Ava Chan, a Sustaining Member, is participating in the Jamaica Plain Crafts Fair on December 1, 2018 from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm at the First Church of Jamaica Plain, 6 Eliot Street.  Ava is also involved in the Dickens Holiday Festival on Sunday, December 9, 10am – 4pm at the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation and the Somerville Flea Holiday Market on Sunday, December 16th, 10am – 5pm at Arts at the Armory, 191 Highland Ave., Somerville.

Nadia Parsons and Christine Winship will be selling their paintings at the The Big Little Art Fair At West Suburban YMCA,  Saturday December 1, 2018 from 9 am to 3 pm at 276 Church Street, Newton, MA.  Nadia Parsons will also be selling at the Winter Works at the Bromfield Gallery, December 5 – 16, 2018, 450 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA and at her 11 Oakland Street, Brighton Open Studios, with Christine Winship and Andrea Newman. on Dec. 8th.

Susanna Hilfer is participating in the annual Mudflat Open Studio & Pottery Sales from November 30 – December 9, 2018

Pauline Lim has organized an exhibit at the Brickbottom Gallery in Somerville called Fairy Tale/Scary Tale from Dec. 6, 2018 – Jan. 12, 2019.

Phoebe Ann Erb has her A-Z collage on permanent display at the Newton Free Library.

Jennifer Jean Costello , a Sustaining Member, and Eliot Portman participates in  monthly SoWa First Fridays Open Studios from 5 to 9 PM throughout the year in her studios at 450 Harrison Avenue. 

Marian Dioguardi, a Sustaining Member, participates in the SoWa  Second Sunday Open Studios (12-4 pm) as well as SoWa Winter Festival on December 1st (11-7 PM) & 2nd (11-5 PM) and December 7th (5-9 PM), 8th (11-7 PM) and 9th (11-5 PM) at her Studio #306 which she shares with Mary Mandarino, weaver and Deborah MacFail, jeweler will be open during the  450 Harrison Ave, Boston, MA

Anita Helen Cohen , a Sustaining Member, is part of the Newton Art Association group show at Lasell College’s Wedeman Gallery from Nov. 13 – December 8, 2018.

Jean Aserkoff and Anita Helen Cohen, Sustaining Members, are part of the You are Here show at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA from May 24 – Sept. 4, 2018. The opening reception is June 7th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.

Lynda Goldberg is included in the Fifth National Monotpe/Monoprint Juried Exhibition at the Art Complex Museum from May 6 – Sept. 2, 2018.  Lynda was the third place award winner.

Peg Ehrlinger, Nancy Hall Brooks, and Ruth Segaloff are all included in the show Violence Transformed. The exhibit is from April 2- Sept. 4, 2018 at the Harriet Tubman House, 450 Columbus Avenue Boston MA. Reception will be May 3 from 6-8 at the gallery. See the flyer here.

Marian Dioguardi and Jean Aserkoff are both included in the Newton Art Association’s juried show at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society & Institute in Newton Centre from Jan. 9 – June 28, 2018. Both are Sustaining Members.

Susanna Hilfer will be selling her ceramics at the Jamaica Plain Crafts Fair at the First Church on June 2, 2018 from 11 am – 4pm. More here.

Oana Lauric is participating in the Coolidge Corner Arts Festival on June 2, 2018 and Beacon Hill Art Walk on June 3, 2018. 

Jennifer Jean Costello is part of the National Force exhibition at Simmons College Trustman Gallery from April 23 – June 4, 2018. She is a Sustaining Member.

Christine Winship is part of the Animals in the City show at Boston City Hall’s Scollay Square Gallery from May 15 – June 15, 2018. The opening reception is May 18th from 4-6 pm. She is Founding Member is a member of the Board of Directors.

Jean Aserkoff is part of group juried show in Art & Soul at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown, MA.  The show ends May 18, 2018.

Si Chen, Yanni Li, and Nohelia Vargas Bolivar are all in the exhibition (T)HERE: Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition at SMFA at Tufts that runs through May 20, 2018 with a public opening reception on May 18th from 7:30 – 10:00 pm. More here

Maria Termini is a presenting at Featured Poets and Open Mic Thursday, May 24, 2018 7 pm to 9 pm at the Roslindale House, Community Room, 120 Popular Street, Sponsored by Friends of the Roslindale Branch Library, a free event, contributions voluntary, refreshments provided. Parking on Hawthorne and Poplar streets, in unnumbered spaces, and at rear of building.

Marian Dioguardi, Andrea Newman, Lynda Goldberg, Julia Talcott , Jane Feigenson are all showing in the annual Newton Open Art Studios on April 7-8, 2018. 

Anita Helen Cohen was selected to be part of a juried exhibition at the Galatea Fine Art Gallery from Jan. 31 – Feb. 25, 2018.

Maria Termini has a one day display and sale called “Joyful Art by Maria Termini’  at 11 Hautevale Street, Roslindale, MA on February 24, 2018 from 11 – 6 pm.  The show that includes acrylic landscapes inspired by the rainbow mountains of Bolivia, watercolors, original limited editions silkscreen prints, collages, mosaics, weavings, blue cats, funny faces, fanciful fish, and fabric appliqué hangings, all at very affordable prices. Much of the work is framed and ready to hang in your home or office or give as gifts.

Jennifer Jean Costello is part of a show at the Galatea Fine Art Gallery, Courting the Uncontrollable, through January 28, 2018. 

Susanna Hilfer is showing her ceramic creations at Linden Ponds in Hingham, MA through January 31, 2018.

Francis Gardino, Diane Sheridan, Jean Aserkoff, Romula Savino, Romani Berlekov, and Tom Jackson are all taking part in the Allston Open Art Studios  and Sale at 119 Braintree St., Allston on December 9 and 10, 2017 from Noon – 6:00 pm.  Unbound Visual Arts will also be a guest presenter at the event.

Nadia Parsons, Christine Winship, and Tracy Stone will be showing their art at Nadia Parson’s studio at 11 Oakland St., Brighton  on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Francis Gardino, a member of the UVA Council of Advisors, is one of the co-coordinators for the Allston Open Art Studios will be held on December 9-10, 2017 at 119 Braintree St., Allston.  He is also participating in this event. Diane Sheridan, a member of the UVA Council of Advisors, is the social media coordinator.

Jean Aserkoff is included in the Newton Art Association’s Holiday Sale at the New Art Center on Dec. 8-9, 2017.  The Show continues through Jan. 2, 2018.

Angela Fiori is taking part in the Open Studios at the Mother Brook Arts and Community Center in Dedham on Dec. 2-3, 2017, 11am – 5pm.

Julia Talcott has a solo show, Three Wishes, at the Bromfield Gallery through November 26, 2017.

Marian Dioguardi is taking part in the SMFA Art Sale  Nov. 16-19, 2017 at 230 Fenway, Boston.  More here

Alexandra Rozenman is participating in the Somerville Open Art Studios  on November 18-19, 2017 from her own studio at 86 Joy Street, 2nd Floor, Studio 37.

Jane Feigenson  is part of a show, FLUX: Six Artists in Respond to Uncertainty,  at the Piano Craft Gallery from Oct. 6 -29, 2017.  More here.

Angela Fiori is part of the 18th Annual Frances N.Roddy Open Competition at Concord Art from
September 14 – October 14, 2017 which was juried by Ali Rinenburg, Director Sloane Merrill Gallery

Marian Dioguardi,  a Sustaining Member of UVA, is included in the South End Open Studios at her studio at 450 Harrison Ave, Studio 223B on September 16 and 17, 2017 11am – 6pm.

Tsun Ming Chmielinski,  a member of the UVA Council of Advisors, is participating in the Jamaica Plain Open Studios on Sept. 23 and 24, 2107 from 11 am – 6 pm. She’s be outside at the First Church in Jamaica Plain Unitarian Universalist, 6 Eliot St.

Jennifer Costello has a solo show  called à venir at the Gallery at Multicultural Arts Center, Cambridge, July 21 – September 1, 2017 with an opening reception on July 20th. 

Mary Gillis is included in the Under Pressure show at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education.  The opening is June 16 and runs through August 26, 2017. 

Jennifer Costello is included in a show called Women at the Charles Fine Arts in Gloucester, MA from July 3 – 30, 2017

Alexandra Rozenman has a solo show, Blind Dates, at the Hudson Gallery, Gloucester, MA from August 4 – August 31, 2017 and an opening on August 5th from 7-10 pm.

Tsun Ming Chmielinski has a show at Spring House, Jamaica Plain.  It continues until August 15, 2017.

Ira-Illiana Papadopoulou, Ph.D, UVA Council of Advisors,  has curated an exhibition Peripatietics| Maria Zeros in the Gallery Kennedy at the Hellenic American Union in Athens, Greece.  The exhibition runs through June 24, 2017.  The opening reception with the artist was May 29, 2017, 8:00 pm.

Regina Valluzzi, Ph.D, has solo show of her work entitled: “Leaf, Paper, Twine” at the Hudson Gallery in Gloucester, MA.  The show of her recent reinvented landscapes runs June 17 – June 29, 2017 with a Reception on June 17 from 7-10 pm.

Linda Clave has her own show called  Sound in Paint, Energy in Art at the Podcast Garage, 267 Western Ave., Allston, MA through June 30, 2017.  The opening reception was June 1st from 6-8 pm, where  she was accompanied by musician Stephanie Woods.

Christine Winship,  a founding UVA member andUVA Board of Directors, is part of the show called  The Elements, May 4 – June 30, 2017 at the Till Art Wave Gallery in Watertown, MA

Angela Fiori is part of the Inaugural Alumni Show in the Dean’s Gallery at the Tufts University/School of Museum of Fine Arts through May 31, 2017.

Tsun Ming Chmielinski, UVA Council of Advisors, is participating in the Coolidge Corner Arts Festival, June 3, 2017, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm.

Allen Chamberland, Dante Gandini and Iyan Freeman are all participating in UVA’s City Heart Art Show and Sale, Prudential Center, May 6, 2017, 10 am – 4 pm.

Angela Fiori is participating in the Open Studios at Mother Brooks Arts in Dedham, May 6-7, 2017.

Nadia Parsons is included in the “Sky…Looking Up” Exhibit at the Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary in Sharon, MA through April 3, 2017.  More here.

Katha Seidman is included in the juried Monsters and “Misfits: Exploration into the Uncomfortable” organized by the Cambridge Art Association,  Kathryn Schultz Gallery, through April 1, 2017. Opening Reception is March 10th, 6-8 pm.

Ruth Segaloff, has a solo show, Precious Legacies – Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, at the Galatea Fine Art Gallery from February 1 – February 26, 2017. More here.

Ruth Segaloff, Nancer Ballard, Julia Talcott, Laurel Rogers, and Martha Shea Smith are  included in “Beyond the Book” Show at the Faneuil and Brighton Branch Libraries through January 28, 2017.

Lynda Goldberg is showing her abstract work at the Congregation Dorshei Tzedek in West Newton through March 15, 2017.

Nohelia Vargas is part of the show “Assembly of Cultures: An Exhibition of Passion and Urgency” at the Piano Craft Gallery from March 10 – 14, 2o17 with an opening on March 10, 2017 from 6-8:30 pm.

Pauline Lim has a solo showing of her art at the Cambridge Common Restaurant through April 19, 2017.

Mary Gillis is part of the Emerging Artists Show at the Three Stones Gallery, West Concord, MA through March 10, 2017.  Opening reception is January 21, 2017, 5:30 – 8:30 pm. 

Marian Dioguardi and Anita Helen Cohen are included in the Newton Art Association’s James King Bonnar Show at the New Art Center running from December 9, 2016 to January 7, 2017 in their Main Gallery.

Joan Mullen is part of the juried Red Biennial presented by the Cambridge Art Association from Nov. 8 – December 21, 2016.

Alexandra Rozenman was selected to be part of  Out of the Woods: Fairy Tales Reimaged, curated by Boriana Kantcheva and Micah Eglinton-Woods  November 10 – December 17, 2016 at the Nave Gallery Annex in Somerville. More here.

Julia Talcott is included in a group show, Different Strokes, at the Carney Galley at Regis College, August 30-October  26, 2016 with an opening reception on September 11, 2016 from 6-8 pm.

Once There Was A House: echoes of the Villa of the Mysteries, featuring Katha Seidman, runs Sept. 16 – Nov. 6, 2016 at The South Shore Art Center.  The Opening reception is Sept. 16th, 6-8 pm.

Jean Aserkoff, Andrea Newman and Angela Fiori are included in the annual Newton Open Studios Fall Juried Art Fest, Nov. 5-6, 2016 at Newton City Hall.

Monica McAlpine and Ruth Nelson are part of the Concord Center for the Visual Art’s  17th Annual Frances N. Roddy competition through October 20, 2016.

Allston Arts District Open Studios 30th Anniversary Art Show at the Honan-Allston Library, featuring several UVA members – Christine Winship, Nadia Parsons, Andrea Newman, Francis Gardino, Linda Clave, Jean Aserkoff.  Opening party is Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm.

Lynda Goldberg is showing at the Natick Artist Open Studios on October 15 -16, 2016.

Christine Winship and Paul Theriault are both participating in Play Me, I’m Yours, Street Pianos Boston 2016, which runs September 23 – October 10, 2016 throughout the City of Boston.

Marian Dioguardi is part of the juried Newton Art Association Annual Awards Show at the Newton Free Library, Newton, MA Sept. 2 – Sept. 29, 2016.  Her artwork won first prize in the show.

Francis Gardino is included in a group show, Changing Allston, at the Harvard Ed Portal. Opening August 12, 2016. Curated by Eva Payne. A curator and artist discussion is on September 20th, 2016 from 6-8 pm.

Joan Mullen is included in the New England Collective VII, juried by Julie Burros, at the Galatea Fine Art Cooperative Gallery during August 2016.  The opening reception was August 5th.

Lynda Goldberg has a show of current work at True Bistro Restaurant in Somerville, MA through August, 2016.

Pauline Lim , Robin Dawkins and Lynda Goldberg are all included in the Brickbottom Artists’ Association Members Summer’s show,  Melt, through August 20, 2016. Opening reception is July 14th 6-8 pm.

Pauline Lim is included in a show juried by Katherine French at the Brookline Art Center called Gravity through July 15, 2016.

Alexandra Rosenman has a personal show called Right Turns at the SCATV Gallery through July 28, 2016 with an opening reception on July 14th from 8 -10 pm.

Heidi Lee, Vice-President of UVA, is this year’s director of CityHeART,  an annual art show and sale in Boston’s Prudential Center shops (next to Barnes and Noble) featuring local homeless and low-income artists. City Heart 2016 will be Saturday, May 14th 10-4 pm.

Linda Clave has a solo show called Celebrating at the Honan-Allston Library, Allston, MA through May 31, 2016.  Reception: Saturday, April 23, 2016, 1:30 – 4:30 pm.

Ellen Zellner has a solo show of her quilts at the Coolidge Corner Branch Library of the Brookline Library through May 31, 2016.

Angela Fiori is part of Pop goes the Easel at the Concord Center for the Visual Arts, through April 2, 2016.

Katha Seidman has a solo show called  Light Water Air in the Newton Free Library Gallery from February 2 – 28, 2016. The opening reception is February 4th 7-8:30 pm.

Marian Dioguardi and Lynda Goldberg are showing in Dream Weavers at the Brickbottom Gallery in Somerville. It’s the Art Connection’s 20th Anniversary exhibition of artists who make the mission of this non-profit organization a reality. Through January 16, 2016.

Francis Gardino is part of the Town of Brookline’s Town Hall Wall Show (Room 103) through January, 2016.

Tsun Ming Chmielinski is showing her art at Isabella’s Restaurant at Dedham Square. The show will be up through January 2016. Opening reception is Wednesday 12/2/15 6:00-8:00.
