Apply for Our Studio Residency
Application Deadline: April 28, 2026
Application Office Hours/Gallery Site Visit:
April 5th from 9am-12pm (in-person)
This residency provides space for an artist, thinker, curator, or collective to complete a work, develop an idea, test out a particular technique or way of working, or deeply think through concepts and research material for a future project.
Open to any discipline* and awarded to one successful applicant, this seven-week residency is complete with a $1,500 stipend (to be used at the artist’s discretion), use of the gallery as a studio/working space for the duration of the residency, and assistance from — or collaboration with — UVA staff. At the artist’s discretion, the project will culminate in a presentation (performance, screening, short exhibition, lecture, reading, or happening) that showcases works completed and in-progress. UVA will provide support to organize a final presentation. Selected artist(s) may also decide to organize public activations and witnessing of the work in process, or invite guest collaborators.
Please note that the residency will take place at our gallery located at 175 Washington St., Brighton, MA 02135
Find the application at the bottom of this page and please review the residency agreement before completing the application. This document outlines the residency details and responsibilities for participation for selected artist(s).
If you have any questions, email info@unboundvisualarts.org.
*We’re open to all makers — composers, writers, performance artists, and more — but we ask that you read the residency agreement, consider the gallery resources available and your own needs, and apply if this opportunity is a good fit.
“In terms of our own development, it was a really rich experience. When you collaborate with artists, it pushes you out of your comfort zone. It makes you reconsider your values, what your goal is as an artist... for me, I grew individually as well as collaboratively.”
— Caroline Sirois (2025 recipient)
