UVA Stands in Solidarity with the Asian American Community
Eugene La Rochelle, Ohm, inkjet print, 22 1/4 x 16 inches, included in UVA’s New Narratives: Reclaiming Asian Identity Through Story exhibit
Unbound Visual Arts (UVA) is appalled and devastated by the events that transpired in Georgia last week and by the increasing acts of violence against members of the Asian-American community in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. UVA stands against racism and xenophobia and does not condone racially motivated acts of hatred, prejudice, and discrimination towards people of Asian descentor individuals of any race or ethnicity. Our hearts go out to the victims of the recent shootings, their friends and family and to those who have experienced anti-Asian harassment and abuse, which we do not tolerate.

UVA Stands in Solidarity with the Black Community
June 11, 2020
Unbound Visual Arts (UVA) is in solidarity with and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. The protests against racial injustice toward Black Americans across Boston and the country have moved many to think about white privilege. Unbound Visual Arts is no different. The Board of Directors and Council of Advisors of Unbound Visual Arts wants everyone to know we are committed to seeking ways to contribute towards positive changes for individuals in the black community. As an organization, we are reflectively thinking of ways we can contribute a stronger voice so the art we present contributes towards social justice, racial equity and is promoting and highlighting diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusiveness. Some of which can include organizing socially and culturally significant exhibits, partnering with and participating in art-related events, programs and activities offered by others where the message focuses on combating racism and promoting social and economic justice for Black Americans and other marginalized groups in the Boston area. We believe learning and educating one’s self is an important first step that everyone can take. Unbound Visual Arts is committed to helping make that step happen. We’ll keep everyone posted on all of our efforts to be a part of the solution.
Thank you for joining us.
