Community Art Making at Art Expo 2019

The Community Art Making Project

The Art Expo and City Heart Show on May 4, 2019 at the Prudential Center included a Community Art Making Project.  Artists Courtney Rose and Kit Lagreze organized and led the community art project entitled: “Circle of Reflection: Creating Space for Communal Pause.”  This statement was prepared by Courtney:

“Our Circle of Reflection project is intended to engage the public’s connection to creativity, artistry and spark awareness of the muse that lives inside each of us. This muse, or inner artist, is our connection to the abstract world, and our connection to each other. We want to give participants an opportunity to slow down, pause, feel and then creatively express themselves on a growing piece that will collect everyone’s expressions throughout the day.”

“Participants are invited to engage with the artists to share about themselves and then co-create an expression, or to engage with the materials provided and create an expression independently. The template for our project is a mandala, intended to reflect holism, the micro and the macro, and how we are all interconnected with each other and the natural world. Now more than ever, it is important to emphasize the bonds of the human family and support each other in our endeavors to do the best we can. We hope this community engagement project draws awareness to the artists who will be selling their artwork at the Prudential Center on this day.”
