Ray Ryan lived on the west coast for twenty years where his fascination with volcanoes became a life-long passion. Leaving virtually no space untouched on the page, one must look closely to discover the narratives at play in Ryan’s volcanic environments. Men in space ships, prehistoric sea creatures, space lizards, planets, and ancient pyramids mysteriously inhabit these fantastic worlds.

Many of his visionary volcano escapes are now in the hands of collectors all over the US. He has also been shown in the MFA Boston, and one drawing hangs permanently in the Paul Revere House.
