PRAYER.jpgUnbound Visual Arts, Inc., and Athan’s Bakery and Café are pleased to present the opening of Sarah Berry: Castoffs & Containers at the Athan’s Café Art Gallery in Brighton. This exhibition features Sarah Berry’s mixed media pieces that combine her photographs with objects – new or used – either previously discarded or destined to become castoffs. Her photography is photojournalistic in style, capturing scenes in clear detail often with a dash of bold color. The addition of objects relating to each photograph illustrates our attempts to contain our environment, our spirit, our physical being.  They prompt us to consider that, eventually, these objects will be discarded, becoming castoffs in the World.

Light and visually appealing, her work gently, and sometimes not so gently, reminds us of the impact our ‘stuff’ has on our unique and wondrous planet, Earth. Sarah’s repurposing of everyday items hints to us to imagine ways of reusing our containers and castoffs.

A public opening reception is Sunday August 3rd from 7:00-9:00 pm. The exhibition runs from July 9, 2014 through October 2, 2014 and is open daily from 8:00 am – 10:00 pm.  Athan’s Café Art Gallery, 407 Washington St., Brighton Center, MA.| MBTA: Buses 57, 65, 86, 501, 503 |  Handicapped accessible,  Free wi-fi and air-conditioned.
