Christine Winship: The Pedigree Artist

Christine Winship: The Pedigree Artist opened on July 18 and ran through September 7, 2012.   A public opening reception and discussion with the artist was on Tuesday, July 24 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.

Christine Winship, a member of the Allston Arts District Open Studios, has been specializing in pet and animal portraits for the past seven years.  Her artworks create as sense of joy and happiness as she captures the unique physical and emotional characteristics of her animal subjects. Viewers are drawn to these paintings that remind them of the own pets or pets that were once an important part of their lives.  Christine’s placement of her animals in realistic landscapes and other recognizable settings help achieve her objective to inspire joy.

Christine studied art at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC and received her BFA in Illustration from the Art Institute of Boston. Christine frequently donates gift certificates for custom paintings to animal shelters and rescue organizations in order to raise funds for those worthy causes. She has shown her work throughout New England in both solo and group shows.  Most recently, she was part of the“Allston-Brighton Works” group exhibition at Boston City Hall. She is also an active member of New England Arts for Animals.
