Unbound Visual Arts (UVA) is excited to host its 2nd Allston-Brighton Art & Architecture Bike Tour! Come join us on two wheels to explore the rich history, creative culture and local art scene of these two vibrant neighborhoods on Saturday, October 8th (Rain date: October 15th) guided by our very own Executive Director, fine arts historian and local art expert, John Quatrale. The tour starts and end at UVA Headquarters 10 Guest St., WGBH/Brighton Landing West, Brighton, MA. If you need it, there is automobile parking in the parking garage across the street at 15 Guest St. See the directions here:
This 11-mile tour celebrates a vast array of exceptional public works of art from local artists, nationally-recognized and historically significant neighborhood landmarks, in addition to innovative urban planning and groundbreaking design initiatives that will help shape the future architectural landscape of Allston and Brighton.
Participants will also get to attend a special exhibit at UVA headquarters at the end of the tour, where we will provide light refreshments and display many original works of art courtesy of several local artists from UVA’s creative community.
Some of the sites on this urban and river route that we'll be visiting include: the New Balance World Headquarters and the training sites for the Bruins and Celtics (under construction), WGBH, 119 Braintree St. Artist studios, Allston Depot (Pizzeria Regina), Honan-Allston Library, Harvard Ceramic Studios, Harvard Stadium, Harvard Business School, the historic St. Gabriel's Monastery, Brighton Library, the Christian Herter Park and Center and the historic Speedway race track complex and many individual public art installations.
