Unbound Visual Arts submitted a preliminary proposal to the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) in 2013 to manage the Speedway Administration Building in Brighton under DCR's historic Curatorship Program. The proposal called for Unbound to create exhibition spaces, artist work studios and educational spaces. DCR later prepared a formal call for proposals and the non-profit developer, the Architectural Heritage Foundation (AHF), was selected to rehabilitate the historic Speedway Administration Complex. In February, 2015, UVA submitted a proposal to AHF with its ideas and suggestions regarding exhibition spaces, artist working studios and educational spaces.

The Speedway Administration complex is listed in both the National Register of Historic Places and the State Register of Historic Places and has been designated a City of Boston Landmark.
