Paul Theriault

Paul Theriault’s work is inspired by water, light, and gravity. He allows chance and error to drive the process of making the paintings, until the accumulation of these elements results in a final harmony. He is a self-taught painter in Boston, MA.  His personal artist website is http://www.ptpainter.com

He was included in UVA’s Healthful exhibition in 2015.

Artist Statement:

“Whatever we see is changing, losing its balance.

The reason everything looks beautiful is because it is out of balance, but its background is always in perfect harmony.
This is how everything exists – losing its balance against a background of perfect balance.
So, if you see things without realizing the perfect harmony of their background,
everything appears to be in the form of suffering.
If you understand the background of existence,
you realize that suffering is how we live,
and how we extend our life.”
