George Shaw

George Shaw is an artist and Master Carpenter living in Cambridge, MA. He is fascinated by structure and the composition of man-made effects, and spends much time investigating historical architecture both professionally and personally. His use of light and contrast and texture is a hall-mark in his paintings, which defines the objects thoroughly and in a unique fashion. Mr. Shaw recently completed his Certificate of Historic Preservation from the Boston Architectural College. He is a member of Unbound Visual Arts and represented by Galatea Fine Art in Boston.

George Shaw is perpetually influenced by the concept of the journey, which resides in the shadows forsaken by immediate concern. He states: “Because they are neither light nor dark, they inform us of both, and reveal, also, both truth and falsehood. In those shadows exist The Sentinels, whose role it is to protect, or guide us on this journey.” Mr. Shaw combines the disciplines of photography, painting, and sculpture, where the relationship between surface and structure is revealed. He explores the intersection of architecture and fields of light and shadow to reveal both divinity and desecration applied to the human condition.
