Unbound Visual Arts (UVA) was organized, formed and incorporated in 2012. It's a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational charity based in Allston-Brighton with members living and being creative in Allston, Brighton, Arlington, Brookline, Cambridge, Chestnut Hill, Jamaica Plain, Newton, Somerville, Watertown and beyond working together as a community to enliven the creative economy with contemporary visual art for all through professionally curated exhibitions, sales, classes, demonstrations, workshops, special events and tours to other contemporary art venues.
Our members are also members of several other art organizations, including Allston Arts District Open Studios, the Arsenal Center for the Arts, Brickbottom Artists Association, Brookline Open Studios, Cambridge Art Association, the Concord Art Association, Galatea Fine Art, Newton Art Association, Newton Open Studios, the Newburyport Art Association and the Watertown Art Association. We're now the fastest growing visual arts organization in greater Boston. The business and program activities are managed by a Board of Directors and a Council of Advisers. Our community of members (currently at 115 and growing) consist of individuals, businesses and institutions that include professional and amateur artists, art collectors and buyers, art connoisseurs, art related businesses and institutions, curators, performing artists and anyone that enjoys seeing, feeling, experiencing and promoting meaningful and expressive art. They all recognize the importance of the visual arts in their personal, business or professional lives. We also develop and nurture partnerships and collaborations with other institutions, organizations and businesses to promote and achieve our non-profit educational mission. UVA also partners with organizations that support vulnerable and at-risk artist groups, such as the Common Art Program serving homeless and formerly homeless artists. We have also partnered with other non-profits organizations to help them achieve their mission: Gifford Cat Shelter, The New Art Center, and Nurturing Minds in Africa, Inc. Beginning in 2017, UVA will be the lead presenter for CityHeart Art Show and Sale, an annual event that presents artists from several art programs in the Boston area that assist those who are currently homeless, formerly homeless as well as artists who are low-income and disadvantaged.
